John Igoe, a Business Law partner in Edwards Wildman's
South Florida offices, has been named to the board of directors of BioFlorida. In this role, Igoe will work with the board of directors to help BioFlorida to lead the bioscience, pharmaceutical and medical device industries' continued growth, strengthen and expand the organization’s chapters, and oversee statewide professional development programs and events.
A veteran corporate lawyer, Igoe is well-known in Florida for his knowledge of venture capital transactions, emerging growth companies and securities law. He also advises companies on complex corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, equity incentive plans, and general corporate matters. Igoe has extensive experience working with start-up companies and entrepreneurs as they form and grow their businesses, particularly for biotech, life science and healthcare companies spun out from Florida’s premier research institutions. This focus area is supported by Edwards Wildman's Helping Innovators Thrive (HIT)
program, which provides affordable access to strategic legal advice for qualifying entrepreneurs and young companies. Igoe began his legal career in Edwards Wildman's Providence office in 1981 and relocated to the firm's West Palm Beach office in 1983.
A frequent lecturer and active leader in the venture capital community, Igoe serves on the board of directors and executive committee of the Florida Venture Forum, a prominent venture capital support organization dedicated to accelerating the successful development of the entrepreneurial community in Florida. Igoe earned his law degree, cum laude
, from Boston College Law School and his undergraduate degree from Brown University.
