    Edwards Wildman Duo Break Down Special-Purpose Financial Captives in Best's Review

    Jeff Etherington and Zach Lerner, attorneys in the firm's Insurance and Reinsurance Department, wrote an article discussing how robust state regulations are allowing special-purpose financial captives to be used by the insurance industry in Best's Review. In the article, "Opening Up," the authors analyzed how at least 19 states have approved the ceding of risk by domestic insurers to special-purpose financial captives and how the National Association of Insurance Commissioners has questioned the utilization of SPFCs to transfer risk.
