Writing for World Trademark Review, Edwards Wildman Attorneys Advise How Celebrities Can Protect Their Image Rights in the UK and US

    News
John Ottaviani, an intellectual property partner in Edwards Wildman's Providence office, and Colin Sawdy and Chika Ochonogor, intellectual property associates in the firm's London office, wrote two articles about regulations in the developing field of image rights. In "Maybe You Can Take It With You: Post-Mortem Rights of Publicity in the US," Ottaviani discussed how a US federal statute in publicity law would increase the predictability of results and decrease legal costs. Sawdy and Ochonogor's article, "The Famous, The Unknown and the Deceased," asserts that until Parliament legislates on the issue, UK rights holders are subject to uncertain protections for publicity and image rights. These articles first appeared in World Trademark Review magazine issue 39, published by The IP Media Group. To view the issue in full, please go to www.worldtrademarkreview.com.
