Edwards Wildman Advises Stanley Black & Decker on Connecticut Captive Insurance Company

    News
Edwards Wildman advised Stanley Black & Decker on the establishment of a Connecticut captive insurance company and the intended consolidation of existing captives in other jurisdictions into the new captive, which is only the second captive to be formed in the state. The firm provided structural advice for the transaction and guided its client through the regulatory process for setting up the new captive and consolidating the existing business. Ted Augustinos, a partner in the Hartford office, led the team. Business Insurance noted the firm's role in its article, "Stanley Black & Decker Moves Captive Insurer to Connecticut." Edwards Wildman also served as legal advisors to Connecticut's first captive insurance company, which is part of Thomson Reuters, when it was launched in August.
