Longtime Dallas Partner Frank E. Stevenson II Elected Chair of Board of Directors for State Bar of Texas

    (DALLAS) April 19, 2012 — Locke Lord Dallas Partner Frank E. Stevenson II has been elected Chair of the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors. His chairmanship, effective in mid-June, marks a milestone in Stevenson’s 30-year legal career during which he has served in numerous leadership positions in a wide variety of community and legal organizations.

    Stevenson, who was president of the Dallas Bar Association in 2008, has been on the State Bar’s Board of Directors since 2010 and on the boards of the Dallas Bar Association and the Dallas Bar Foundation since 1999 and 2007, respectively. He has received several citations and other recognition for his contributions on behalf of the Dallas Bar, including for starting a summer internship program for disadvantaged high school students that won awards from both the Texas Bar and the Dallas Independent School District.

    He led the Campaign for Equal Access to Justice, the Dallas area’s legal aid campaign, in 2003 and has twice been honored by Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas. He is an associate member of the Dallas Citizens Council, and serves on the board of the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce and on the executive committee of the Sammons Center for the Arts.

    Stevenson’s practice focuses on administrative, transportation, real estate and finance law, and he is a member of the Firm’s Administrative & RegulatoryPublic Law, Governmental & Public Affairs and Real Estate & Finance practices. His diverse client base includes financial institutions and government agencies, as well as sellers and purchasers of improved and unimproved property. He is a frequent speaker and author on a wide range of topics and won the 2009 State Bar of Texas writing award for “Best Series of Articles.”

    A magna cum laude graduate of Amherst College, Stevenson has held numerous alumni leadership positions for the college, including as a member and then chair of the Executive Committee of the Alumni Council. Amherst awarded him its Medal for Eminent Service in 2009.

    Stevenson earned his law degree at the University of Virginia School of Law. He will take office at the State Bar’s June 14-15 annual meeting in Houston.
