January 23, 2012 – Two Locke Lord attorneys have written chapters for the recently published Third Edition of Business and Commercial Litigation in Federal Courts, a project of the American Bar Association Section of Litigation and Thomson West. Dallas Partner Vince Hess co-authored Chapter 53 on “Costs and Disbursements,” for the 11-volume treatise that takes an in-depth look at current federal civil procedure and the laws that govern commercial litigators.
Hess has years of experience in complex commercial litigation and arbitration and represents large and mid-size companies in disputes involving software, class actions, managed care and employee benefits, construction, trade secrets, securities, commercial real estate, franchise, health care, constitutional, leasing and environmental issues.
Hess is part of a group of 251 authors from around the nation that includes 22 judges and “the cream of the commercial litigation bar and the best lawyers practicing in the federal courts,” according to Robert L. Haig, editor of the Third Edition. The 130-chapter book addresses changes in commercial litigation since the first and second editions in 1998 and 2005. According to Thomson West, the volumes constitute a one-of-a-kind collection of federal civil procedure, commercial litigation strategies and examples and a detailed appendix containing jury instructions, cases, forms and other information. The text is considered the go-to guide for every aspect of commercial cases, from initial assessment through trial and appeal.
