(AUSTIN) October 1, 2010 – Seasoned trial attorney Alan Waldrop re-joins Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell today as a Litigation Partner in the Firm’s Austin office. Waldrop was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry as a Justice to the Third Court of Appeals in August 2005 and recently resigned that post to return to private practice with Locke Lord, where he worked with the Firm’s predecessor for more than 17 years.
“We eagerly welcome Alan back as a senior trial lawyer in Texas, and we know his additional judicial experience brings with it an added bonus,” said Firm Chair Jerry Clements, who works out of Locke Lord’s Austin office and formerly headed the Firm’s Litigation Section. “Before Alan left to become a Justice, he represented a broad range of clients in complex litigation and legislative matters, and we feel honored that he brings his great reputation, his extensive contacts and his trial experience back home to Locke Lord.”
A graduate with honors from the University of Texas Law School, Waldrop started his law career with the former Liddell Sapp firm. He also was a lecturer and adjunct professor of trial advocacy at his alma mater from 1993 until 2000. Following his appointment by Perry, Waldrop won election to the justice position for a six-year term, which would have ended in 2012.
“A litigator longs for the courtroom, and I am ready to pick up where I left off with Locke Lord,” Waldrop said. “It was an honor to serve the State of Texas on the Third Court of Appeals, but I’m ready to return to the other side of the bench with my original law firm.”
