Locke Lord LLP is seeking diverse 1L summer associates in its Chicago and Dallas offices to join as 1L Leadership Council of Legal Diversity “LCLD” Scholars for the summer of 2020.
As a 1L LCLD Scholar at Locke Lord, in addition to participating in our Summer Associate Program, you will receive numerous networking and mentoring opportunities organized by the LCLD and have the opportunity to attend the 1L LCLD Scholars Summit in Atlanta, Georgia in June.
The Locke Lord Summer Associate Program is distinctive. We do not view students as temporary guests – we see them as part of our team, with the summer program being just the first stage of your Locke Lord career. We are committed to individual creativity combined with a spirit of collaboration and provide a supportive and challenging atmosphere for our Summer Associates to learn and grow. Our Summer Associate Program is designed to be the first step of associate development and the groundwork for a prosperous and rewarding career with our firm.
We believe the best way to learn is through first-hand experience and exposure to real legal events. Our Summer Associates work with our clients and are regularly included in conference calls and out-of-office proceedings such as court appearances and depositions. Summer Associates are also invited to attend all Firm training sessions, practice group meetings and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars. Throughout the summer, lawyers conduct workshops to help the Summer Associates develop their skills, with legal writing classes and Blue Book trainings. Our lawyers also provide meaningful feedback to Summer Associates on their work product. We encourage Summer Associates to choose a practice area of interest during their time with us.
