Austin Independent School District - Partners In Education
Austin Partners in Education works to create and foster effective community-school partnerships in the Austin Independent School District that support and enrich student learning and success. Through Partners in Education, the Austin office began a unique partnership in 2004 with the District's Sanchez Elementary School. Locke Lord has focused its efforts on the 2008 fifth grade graduating class so that we assist their teachers in providing an atmosphere conducive to learning, promoting self esteem, and letting students know that there are members of the community who care about them.
We have planned and executed holiday events for this class each year, including fulfilling wish lists, providing snacks, offering time with bilingual Santa and Mrs. Claus, supplying educational tools such as magazines, multiplication flash cards, and books. In 2005, the School's second grade class nominated Locke Lord for an Austin Partners In Education Salute Award in the "Rookie of the Year" category. In the spring of 2006, seven members of Locke Lord's Austin office became Austin Partners In Education weekly mentors at Sanchez Elementary for first through fourth graders.
