(DALLAS) July 26, 2010 – Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell is the only law firm to receive a 2010 Corporate Achievement DiversityFIRST™ Award from the Texas Diversity Council, which recognizes outstanding commitment to inclusion, cultural understanding and diversity in the workplace. The recognition comes right behind two individual diversity-related rewards from Texas Diversity Council to Firm Chair Jerry Clements — named one of the state’s “Most Powerful and Influential Women” — and Partner Shonn Brown, named to the council’s select Multicultural Power 100 group.
“This Corporate Achievement award is tremendous recognition of our Firm’s commitment to diversity,” Clements said. “To be selected by peers from outside the legal arena speaks volumes about the efforts we make to put people first in our Firm and within the communities we serve. Diversity is a crucial part of our strategic plan at Locke Lord.”
Brown, Co-Chair of Locke Lord’s National Diversity Committee, recently accepted the DiversityFIRST™ award in Dallas. She will speak at the Texas Diversity Council Women in Leadership Symposium in Fort Worth next month.
“It’s gratifying to be part of a law firm that recognizes the importance of respect, positive communication and equal opportunities for all people, no matter their race or gender,” said Brown, who practices commercial litigation in the Firm’s Dallas office.
