Dale D. Smith Joins Energy, Finance Practices as Partner in Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell's Houston Office

(HOUSTON) January 21, 2011 – Experienced finance, energy and oil and gas attorney Dale D. Smith has joined the Houston office of Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell as part of its Energy and Finance Practice Groups. Formerly of Bracewell & Giuliani, Smith brings to the Firm a wide range of energy, finance and oil and gas experience and will add to Locke Lord’s strength in these areas.
Smith represents lending institutions and borrowers in a variety of secured and unsecured credit transactions, including complex syndicated and structured finance transactions, project finance, letter of credit, working capital, ABL and borrowing base facilities, workouts and restructurings and DIP and bankruptcy exit financings. Smith also represents electric and gas utilities and energy investment sponsors in the negotiation and preparation of engineering, procurement and construction contracts.

Smith’s upstream oil and gas experience includes the preparation and negotiation of leases, farmout and participation agreements, seismic and license agreements, contracts for drilling and other service arrangements and operating agreements. He has substantial experience performing due diligence on mineral reserves for purposes of advising clients providing capital to exploration and production companies. He earned his law degree, with honors, from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law and an MBA from the University of New Orleans.
