National Insurance and Capital Markets Attorney Rachel B. Coan Joins Locke Lord's New York Office

(NEW YORK) December 22, 2010 – National insurance and capital markets attorney Rachel B. Coan has joined Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell’s New York office as a Partner in the Insurance and Capital Markets practice areas.
Coan’s well-established national practice is based in New York, where she previously was a partner with Katten Muchin Rosenman, Morrison & Foerster and LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae. She is active in the New York Bar Association and has many years of experience in the U.S. securitization, life insurance and property and casualty insurance markets.
“Rachel’s transactional corporate and securities work and her deep and longstanding relationships with clients around the country bring a tremendous boost to the Firm’s corporate practice presence in New York,” said David Greene, Managing Partner of Locke Lord’s New York office. “Having Rachel join our New York team is a continuation of our strategic growth on the East Coast, and her blend of insurance and capital markets experience will integrate well with our established practices around the country.” Locke Lord’s Corporate Insurance Practice Group is co-chaired by Jon Biasetti in Chicago and Brian Casey in Atlanta.
Coan graduated from Rutgers Law School and Smith College and began her law career as a litigation assistant more than 30 years ago. She is a well-respected and frequently sought-out panelist for programs about legal developments in the field of insurance and securities, and she also contributes articles and columns in trade journals and other publications.
Her New York Bar Association work includes membership on its Committee on Insurance, and she previously worked on its Pro Bono and Women in the Law committees. She is a member of the Structured Finance Subcommittee of the Federal Regulation of Securities Committee in the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association.
