West Palm Beach Duo Serves as Bond Counsel to Broward County in $85 Million Industrial Development Revenue Bond Issue

Locke Lord lawyers Mark-David Adams and Rick Miller served as bond counsel to Broward County, Florida on an $85 million industrial development revenue bond issue for the benefit of Florida Power & Light Company (FPL). This transaction financed, on a tax-exempt basis, certain solid waste disposal and sewage facilities located at FPL’s Port Everglades Energy Center and Fort Lauderdale Power Plant in Broward County, Florida and represents FPL’s first new capital financing in the municipal bond market in more than 20 years. From start to finish, the complex transaction was completed in 60 days.
