Verdict in Favor of Pro Bono Client

After a nine-day jury trial in 2011, our lawyers obtained a unanimous verdict in favor of our pro bono client, a New York City Police Department detective who was alleged to have violated plaintiff's decedent’s federal civil rights and acted negligently when he fatally shot decedent after observing him kill another man and turn a gun on him. The jury determined that the defendant did not use excessive force and did not act unreasonably under the circumstances.
