Molly Hatchell's practice has focused exclusively on civil appellate law. She began her practice by serving three years as a briefing attorney for two courts of appeals. She entered private practice to concentrate on appeals and was board-certified in appellate law in 1992. Her experience includes more than fifty state and federal appeals, which include landmark decisions and cases of first impression. She has argued cases before the Tyler, Texarkana, Corpus Christi, and Eastland Court of Appeals, and the federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Hatchell has been named a "Texas Super Lawyer" in appellate practice by Texas Monthly every year since 2003, when the survey began. She is a past member of the State Bar Rules Committee, which suggests changes to the rules of appellate procedure. She is an accomplished and prolific writer on topics related to appellate law in Texas. Ms. Hatchell is known statewide as the creator and former co-editor of "The Hatchell Report," which analyzed and tracked cases pending in the Supreme Court of Texas.
