
Matthew Eggerding is an associate with Locke Lord LLP and practices with the Firm’s Energy and Intellectual Property groups.
Specifically, Mr. Eggerding’s practice with the Firm’s Energy group includes representing pipeline and electric companies before federal agencies, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), assisting companies with regulatory compliance, and auditing and analyzing corporate documents and agreements.
Mr. Eggerding has represented clients in litigation matters before federal district courts, state courts, and federal agencies.
Mr. Eggerding also has experience in all areas of intellectual property, including prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and foreign patent offices, rendering validity and infringement opinions, and counseling clients in trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Eggerding was a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he examined applications in the deposition and etching arts.
During law school, Mr. Eggerding served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Mary Ann Medler, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.

- Representing a new offshore natural gas pipeline in abandonment by sale and certificate proceedings before FERC.
- Representing major interstate natural gas pipelines in their comprehensive rate cases before FERC.
- Representing major interstate natural gas pipelines in special proceedings before FERC.
- Advising natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGL) pipelines on matters regulated by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.
- Representing NGL pipelines in tariff rate proceedings before FERC.
- Represented the largest proposed natural gas pipeline and gas treatment plant development project in North America.
- Representing natural gas pipelines in regulatory compliance proceedings.
- Representing electric companies in Federal Power Act (FPA) Sections 205 and 206 proceedings before FERC.
- Advising public utilities on FERC regulations governing nuclear decommissioning.
- Advising electric companies in corporate reorganizations.
- Advising electric companies in the disposition of FERC-jurisdictional facilities under Section 203 of the FPA.
- Advising companies on Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA) issues related to cogeneration facilities.
