
John F. Sweeney is a partner in Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP's New York office. Mr. Sweeney has been involved in patent, trade secret and trademark litigation since 1973. He has been selected as one of the Leaders in Their Field by Chambers USA; appears in the Guide to the World's Leading Patent Law Experts; is one of a select number of attorneys named to The Best of the Best USA 2008 in the field of patent law; and is included in The Best Lawyers of America.
His litigation experience includes patent, antitrust, trademark and trade dress bench and jury trials and appeals. Mr. Sweeney has acted as a lead trial counsel for The Procter & Gamble Company; Boehringer Ingelheim Corporation; Bombardier, Inc.; ISCO (Illinois Superconductor Corporation); C.R. Bard, Inc.; Dot Hill Systems Corporation; Finisar Corporation; Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, AG; Tile Council of America; Arthur D. Little, Inc.; Unigene Laboratories, Inc.; The KV Pharmaceutical Company; Upsher-Smith Laboratories; and Rembrandt IP Management, LLC in numerous cases. He has had extensive jury trial practice and has argued many times in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Before entering legal practice, Mr. Sweeney worked as a mathematician and computer analyst for the U.S. Army Strategy and Tactics Analysis Group.
