International Antitrust
Overview
Over the past decade, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division has imposed record-setting criminal fines and prison sentences against corporations and executives involved in international cartel activity that violates U.S. antitrust laws. As part of its criminal antitrust enforcement program, the DOJ considers the investigation, prosecution and deterrence of international cartels to be its highest priority. Criminal fines assessed against multinational corporations are at an all-time high, while the rate, number and length of criminal prison sentences imposed on corporate executives directing international cartel activity have also been on the rise. Locke Lord’s international team of antitrust attorneys has been successful in defending non-U.S. corporations or individuals in criminal antitrust investigations and trials, and is recognized by legal peers as among the best in the profession. Our vast experience draws upon the strengths of both our Antitrust and White Collar Practice Groups.
