The California Association of Health Plans is hosting the Health Plans and Our Legal Obligations seminar on March 23, 2010. Chicago Partner Patrick S. Coffey will give a presentation during this seminar entitled, "Ramped Up Enforcement Scrutiny of Health Plans: Is Your Compliance Program Ready?" Mr. Coffey will offer thoughts on ways that health plans can temper their risk profile while also reducing the potential for enhanced sanctions in the event of a problem.
The seminar will provide information ensuring that the day-to-day management of your members’ medical care meets the letter and the spirit of the law requires constant attention. In order to ensure adherence to state and federal requirements, health plans employ legal, compliance and policy departments. Health plan staff must wade through proposed and enacted legislation and new laws and regulations while also monitoring network and plan compliance. This technical seminar will address legal and compliance issues facing health plans today, including ethics in health care, legal questions about Medicaid payments, mental health parity, compliance enforcement and anti-trust issues.
