Steven Roper has extensive experience in a variety of real estate and financing matters. He has represented clients in acquisition and sale transactions of commercial and industrial sites, and in the development of commercial and healthcare facilities. He recently completed a sale-leaseback development of a significant corporate headquarters building in the Chicago suburbs. Steve also regularly represents clients on real estate leasing matters, both from the landlord and tenant side.
In the course of real estate and financing work, he advises clients on a variety of title, survey, title insurance, construction escrow, mechanic lien and opinion letter issues. He has represented Chicago-area banks in a variety of real estate loans and credit enhancements.
Mr. Roper is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School (J.D. 1988). He holds engineering degrees from the University of California at Berkeley (M.S. 1981) and California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo (B.S. 1979). He is a registered Civil Engineer in the State of California. He is admitted to the Illinois Bar, 1988.
Mr. Roper is counsel to ACCION/Chicago, Inc., an Illinois not-for-profit microenterprise development organization making business loans to entrepreneurs and business owners for the purpose of fostering economic self-sufficiency and community development. The ACCION network is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Microenterprise Development.
