Jason Mueller focuses his practice on intellectual property and advertising. His practice includes counseling clients on all aspects of intellectual property, including litigation and transactional matters relating to patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and unfair competition. He assists clients on trademark portfolio management, prosecution, strategic counseling, and oppositions and cancellation actions before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also has extensive experience in managing large domestic and international patent and trademark portfolios.
Jason has substantial experience handling all aspects of advertising and marketing law, including sweepstakes, contests, raffles and social media promotions. Jason has performed regulatory compliance reviews and developed and instituted compliance programs to manage risk related to advertising, social media initiatives, company communications, and internet privacy including behavioral tracking activity. Jason regularly reviews national print, radio and television advertising campaigns, and issues opinions relating to the adequacy of claim substantiation. His experience extends to highly regulated industries such as insurance, petroleum and transportation.
Jason regularly counsels clients in the development, licensing, enforcement and protection of intellectual property worldwide. He has experience representing intellectual property interests in complex mergers and acquisitions as well as intellectual property litigation. He has represented Locke Lord clients in copyright, trademark and patent infringement matters in each federal district court in Texas, including jury trial experience in the Eastern District of Texas. Jason feels strongly that his litigation experience provides a practical and grounded approach to his advice relating to compliance and risk management.
