Mike Kilbee is of counsel in the London office of Locke Lord LLP where he acts for clients in retail banking and asset finance. He worked as an in-house lawyer for over thirty years and was formerly Legal Director for Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division. Since then, Mike has been a consultant in a London law firm where he has advised on a wide range of banking and asset finance matters and related topics.
Mike has vast experience in the fields of consumer credit, equipment leasing, contract hire, factoring and discounting, commercial lending and security, data protection and asset finance. He has advised on legislation and regulatory requirements, drafting and preparing documentation, and on disputes and litigation.
Mike has extensive experience in negotiating, drafting and advising on a wide range of commercial contracts, joint venture arrangements, affinity agreements and agency agreements. He has conducted or been responsible for corporate transactions including acquisition and disposals of companies and businesses and portfolio purchases. When in-house, he was a director of various group companies and a member of the executive board and, as such, he was much involved in commercial and operational matters as in addition to his legal and regulatory responsibilities. Mike has had a long involvement with the UK Finance and Leasing Association. He has been a long serving member and Chairman of the FLA Legal Committee and of the Data Protection Working Group thse committees until he left Lloyds TSB.
