Kevin Heath, a partner in Locke Lord’s London office, has more than two decades of experience in banking and finance litigation and reorganisation, restructuring and insolvency. He expanded the asset finance consumer credit litigation team at his previous firm and also managed a team of 40 solicitors in that high profile practice.
Recognised by Chambers UK, Legal 500, PLC WhichLawyer? and Legal Experts, he advises asset-based lenders and consumer financiers on litigation and dispute resolution, including litigation funding and debt purchase. He has acted on a string of high profile leasing insolvencies advising asset financiers on title, insolvency and fraud issues.
Kevin advises other consumer financiers on product development for the litigation funding market. He works with consumer financiers on the resolution of disputes in respect of default charges and secret commission claims.
Kevin also counsels purchasers of distressed debt on the implications of disputes regarding default charges and the impact of the unfair relationship law (introduced by the Consumer Credit Act 2006) and the changes required to debt purchase contracts to protect against these issues.
