Lauren McLaughlin is an associate in the Firm’s Business Litigation section.
Lauren's practice has involved every stage of the litigation process (both in Texas and federal courts)—from pre-suit advice (including initial case assessments, venue choices, jurisdictional choices, choice of law decisions), to drafting pleadings and motions to dismiss, through discovery (e.g., managing large-scale document productions and reviews, drafting motions to compel, drafting discovery requests and responses, prepping clients and corporate representatives for depositions), and all the way up to trial (e.g., drafting motions for summary judgment, drafting other pretrial motions, such as Daubert motions and motions in limine, preparing pre-trial orders, selecting trial exhibits, and prepping expert witnesses—for instance, drilling and reservoir engineers—for trial).
Since joining the Firm in 2011, Lauren’s clients have included major banks and mortgage servicers, Fortune 500 energy companies (both American and Chinese), LED-lighting innovators, global hotel franchises, energy trading firms, construction firms and major clothing retailers. Lauren also has experience in white collar criminal defense.
Lauren remains committed to providing the Houston community with pro bono legal services. In connection with this work, she has appeared at eviction hearings and hearings before the Social Security Administration, negotiated and drafted divorce and custody agreements, drafted petitions for criminal expunctions and assisted clients in clearing property titles/fraudulent liens.
