Gaston Kroub is a partner in the Firm's New York office where he litigates patent and other intellectual property cases through trial and appeal. While his practice has always focused on patent litigation, Gaston's litigation experience also extends to trade secret, trademark, copyright and false advertising matters. Gaston has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers–Rising Stars Edition for 2011 and 2012 for Intellectual Property Litigation.
In addition to his litigation practice, Gaston also concentrates on the Cleantech industry and serves as the co-chair of the Greentech Committee of the New York Bar Association's IP Section. He was the first registered patent attorney in the United States credentialed as a LEED® Green Associate for his knowledge in the areas of green building, design and operations. Gaston lectures and comments frequently on intellectual property issues as they apply to the Cleantech industry in the United States and abroad. His LEED® certification enables him to help clients secure, as well as enforce, patent and other intellectual property protection within the emerging green technology sector for products and services that increase efficiency, preserve natural resources, and reduce emissions.
Technical areas that Gaston has litigated and counseled clients in include: Internet business methods; financial services; software; recombinant DNA; automotive; consumer electronics; computer hardware; plastics; pharmaceuticals; web-based data mining. He has particular experience in the enforcement of patent rights overseas, including proceedings before the Taiwan and China patent offices and the Chinese trial courts.
Gaston has also counseled clients with respect to patent prosecution, trade dress and trademark protection, domain name disputes, and has assisted in the establishment of an e-commerce business venture.
In addition, he is a registered patent attorney in the United States.
