Jack Elum serves as Staff Counsel in the New York office of Locke Lord LLP. He is a member of the Firm’s aviation, construction, business litigation and dispute resolution, and consumer finance practice groups. Mr. Elum has litigated cases in federal and state courts, and his practice is primarily focused on issues related to aviation, construction accident and product liability litigation. Mr. Elum also has experience in monitoring and overseeing nationwide pharmaceutical litigations, as well as organizing and assessing complex discovery issues in general commercial litigation disputes. Additionally, in the area of consumer finance, Mr. Elum has represented national lending institutions and mortgage servicing companies in consumer disputes.
In the field of aviation, Mr. Elum has represented airlines and aircraft service providers. He has defended product liability, wrongful death, personal injury and property damage claims as they relate to a variety of fields including both the aviation and construction industries.
In the construction field, Mr. Elum has represented owners, general contractors and subcontractors in construction site accident litigation arising from worksite accidents, including those which fall under the New York State Labor Law.
Prior to entering the private sector, Mr. Elum was an Assistant District Attorney in New York City, during which he tried numerous cases to verdict and presented complex criminal investigations to grand juries.
