
Dr. Andrea L. Wayda is a partner in Locke Lord LLP's New York office. Her practice focuses on trial and appellate litigation as well as counseling in the chemical, pharmaceutical and medical device fields.
Dr. Wayda's prior career as a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories combined with her extensive experience in all phases of patent law enables her to provide high level technical advice and legal counseling to her clients. Dr. Wayda has participated in numerous patent trials in the U.S. District Courts in a range of and chemical, pharmaceutical and medical product disciplines including herbicides, zeolites, vaccine technology, hip implants, reduced circumference cigarettes, low-emission gasoline and various generic pharmaceuticals. Dr. Wayda's experience also includes the full range of patent prosecution practice (including re-examination and reissue proceedings and arguing appeals before the Board). Dr. Wayda has rendered opinions on validity and infringement in the chemical and medical device fields and also oversees and coordinates the global legal and business strategy for a major specialty metal company.
