James Hwa has been involved in patent litigation before the federal district courts and the International Trade Commission (ITC), as well as in appeals before the U.S. Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. He has rendered invalidity, non-infringement and enforceability opinions as well as clearance and patentability opinions, prepared and prosecuted patent applications, conducted due diligence investigations, and advised individuals and companies on their intellectual property rights. His practice is focused on the areas of computer hardware and software, telecommunications, motors, controllers, optics and consumer products.
