Jay Safer will be one of six representatives from the New York State Bar Association who will take part in the U.S. Department of State’s public meeting of its Study Group on the Hague Convention on Choice of Court Agreements. The Study Group will meet to discuss the draft federal legislation that has been developed to implement the Hague Convention. It is proposed that states could elect a uniform state act in lieu of the federal statute. Among the key issues to be discussed is the scope of federal jurisdiction in actions brought to recognize or enforce the judgment of a foreign chosen court.
